He wakes up every day, excited to instill healthy dental habits into little surfers!
“Being a father of five children, I see nothing more enjoyable than teaching and being with children every day. I believe it’s essential to create a fun and enjoyable dental experience for your child while teaching the importance of oral health.”
Dr. Lothyan loves working with kids! He strives to create a fun, professional environment and build positive, trusting relationships with children and parents alike. At every visit, he’ll partner with you to ensure your little surfer develops healthy habits for a lifetime. Also, fun fact: The Smile Surfers theme was inspired by his childhood family road trips to San Clemente Beach in Southern California in an orange VW bus.
Before he pursued pediatric dentistry, Dr. Lothyan earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Washington School of Dentistry (go Huskies!) and worked as a general dentist for a short time. Then, he completed a two-year residency in pediatric dentistry at the University of Rochester and Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.
Dr. Lothyan is a native of the Seattle area, and his greatest joys in life are his five children and wife of 20+ years. When he’s not at work, he enjoys spending time outdoors, where he loves to hike, camp, and fish. He also loves surfing and restored a vintage 1976 VW pop-up camper van for those quick surf getaway weekends!
Dr. Kate is a former NCAA gymnast and diver. In addition to pediatric dentistry, she also loves chatting about these sports and how great the Pacific Northwest is.
“I am passionate about providing a positive introduction to dentistry and laying the foundation for oral health. I strive to be kind, nurturing, and attentive and look forward to working with Smile Surfer Families.”
Dr. Goldberg likes to go by “Dr. Kate” and was drawn to pediatric dentistry by the opportunity to positively impact a child’s oral health and confidence.
Dr. Kate completed her Pediatric Dentistry Residency at the University of Washington School of Dentistry in affiliation with Seattle Children’s Hospital earning a Master’s of Public Health and Master’s of Science in Dentistry. Prior to that, she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine and completed General Practice Residency training at the University of California in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Upon graduation, she received the Kramer Award of Excellence for “scholarship, character, and service to humanity” and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Predoctoral Award recognizing her as the graduating student with the most promise in the field.
Outside of work, Dr. Kate enjoys spending time with family and staying active outdoors, especially on a bicycle.
